Teacher of the Year

2/28/2015

Vici Papajohn gave a wonderful overview of what it takes to be a great teacher as she announced this year’s award winner: our very own Sarah Barker! Sarah was joined by her husband Scott, who is also a teacher; her grandmother Mrs. Webb, who also taught for years at GBHS in the same room that Sarah now has; and her principal, Jason Weeks, who also was quoted by Vici on Sarah’s accomplishments. Sarah has been teaching for 11 years, after graduating from GBHS, PJC and FSU. She also has a master’s in education.

Among her many accomplishments, she was named Teacher of the Year during her first years in the classroom, and won the Florida State Excel Award for amazing accomplishments on student performance. Sarah is certified to teach exceptional and English as second language students, as well as language arts. She has taught at GBHS for two years, and is the outstanding sponsor not only of the Literary Magazine, but our absolutely amazing Interact Club. Her mentoring and motivating efforts have truly made a difference with local students.
