Tom Henderson is the founder of Shelter Box out of the UK.  Shelterbox has been around for 15 years.  They have a 4 star charity rating.  Each box is tracked.  The command center keeps track of all disasters. Shelterbox always has a response team on call and respond within 24 hours.

The total cost of the box is $1000.00.  The cost breakdown is $600.00 for contents, $300.00 pays for getting the box and response team to the location and $100.00 is admin fee.

Haiti has received 28,000 boxes.

The response teams are all volunteers.  They go through training.  They learn things like setting up the tents and organizing tent cities.  The tent is a tent within a tent for insulation of heat and cold.

The contents of the box are adjustable to fit the need of the disaster.  The stove in the boxes will burn anything.  Pots and Pans are stainless steel.  The water purification uses a mechanical treatment.   The boxes are on the ground within 48 hours of the disaster.  The contents of the box are kept at the disaster site in case they are needed again.
